Glen Oaks completes several improvement projects

Students returning to Glen Oaks this semester are seeing major improvements to the campus.

School president David Devier said with fewer people on campus over the summer due to COVID- 19, it was an ideal time to complete several projects that had been on the backburner.

The primary project centers on a rebuilt main parking lot, replacing the original parking lot from when the campus opened in 1969. Devier said Glen Oaks received a $50,000 grant toward the parking lot project from the motorcycle-safety program funding from the State of Michigan.

The program, which has been held at Sturgis Middle School, will move to campus in summer 2021, Devier said.

All projects involved local contractors with exception of a Plainwell asphalt company.

The college used part of a $1.5 million Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant.
