Man died in Cass County crash

A Cassopolis man died after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was involved in a crash in Cass County’s Jefferson Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies responded around 11:50 p.m. Monday to the area of Brownsville Street and Highfield Road in response to a single-vehicle crash.

Deputies learned those involved in the incident had self-transported to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac.

Investigators found the vehicle was westbound on Brownsville Road when its driver lost control due to speed and a freshly-applied chip seal to the roadway. The vehicle rolled several times and laid to rest in a field.

Behnke said occupants of the vehicle were Samantha Worley, 27, Asa English, 45, and driver Willie Moore, 35, all of Cassopolis.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Marcus Moore.
