Mary Jane Hamminga, 84

Mary Jane Hamminga, age 84, of rural Three Rivers, died on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was born in Mendon Township on June 30, 1936 the daughter of Carl and Fern (Rishel) Huckendubler and was a lifetime resident of Mendon. She attended Canada Corners Country School and graduated from Mendon High School in 1954. She worked briefly at Upjohn Pharmaceutical before her marriage to Clarence Hamminga on June 29, 1956 at the Center Park United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who loved to cook. She was an avid reader and enjoyed garage sales. She enjoyed many trips across the United States and Canada.

Mary Jane is survived by her son, Michael (Mary) Hamminga of Independence, MO; three grandchildren, Thomas Hamminga of San Diego, Daniel (Melanie Epple) Hamminga of Defiance, OH, and Sarah (Matthew) Daugherty of Independence, MO; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Oliver, and Henry Daugherty and one on the way; three brothers, Kenneth (Helen) Huckendubler of Portage, Clark (Doris Hampton) Huckendubler of Three Rivers, and Roger (Sharon) Huckendubler of Manistee; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; and an infant daughter, Christine.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A graveside memorial service will be held later in Mendon Cemetery. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
