McDonough pled not guilty to bond violations

St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough last week pled not guilty to violations related to terms of his bond conditions.

The bond conditions stem from his May arrest on drunken-driving charges.

McDonough and his attorney, Michael Hills, appeared through Zoom teleconference Thursday for arraignment before Kalamazoo County Judge Vincent Westra.

The 40-year-old McDonough faced two bond-violation charges. They center on his alleged purchase and use of alcohol, which violate conditions of his bond. McDonough was spotted in person and through security video allegedly patronizing a Three Rivers business and purchasing liquor.

Hills said McDonough is seeking counseling and is engaged in a 12-step sobriety program four days a week.

McDonough’s next court appearance related to the bond-violation charges is Sept. 29. His trial on the drunken-driving charge is slated to get underway Nov. 24.
