Police investigate Calhoun County crash

Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 6:40 p.m. Sunday on B Drive South, near 3 Mile Road, in Calhoun County’s East Leroy Township.

Authorities said the vehicle crashed into a ditch and struck a number of mailboxes before coming to a stop.

The driver exited the vehicle, collapsed and was discovered to have no pulse and not breathing. A passenger fled on foot.

First responders were able to revive the driver through CPR and the use of Narcan. Troopers located the passenger and arrested him on outstanding felony warrants.

The passenger admitted to the troopers that he ate a large quantity of heroin prior to troopers arresting him.

The driver and the passenger were both taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
