Two major road projects – one in Nottawa Township, the other in Lockport Township – are nearing completion.
St. Joseph County Road Commission Manager John Lindsey said work on a portion of Nottawa Road was to resume Monday. Meanwhile, attention will focus next week on stretches of Holtom and Schweitzer roads in Lockport Township.
Lindsey said the Nottawa Road project has already seen the road pulverized from Truckenmiller Road north to Wasepi Road, as that stretch will be a full reconstruction. Wasepi Road to Butler Road is merely an overlay, Lindsey said.
Cost of the 3.5-mile Nottawa Road project is about $600,000. If weather is not an issue, the task should be done by Friday.
Lindsey said Holtom Road, from M-86 north to Meyer Road, is being treated with an overlay. Holtom from Meyer Road to Schweitzer Road at M-60 is being reconstructed.
The Holtom/Schweitzer road work is about 3.2 miles and will be done at a cost of approximately $650,000, Lindsey said.
It is projected to be finished by Oct. 16.
