St. Joseph County commissioners authorized the renegotiation of a sales agreement between Covered Bridge Healthcare and an adjacent car wash to its east.
CBH director Rick Shaffer said the agency is attempting to purchase the car wash property in order to expand its office and add a drive-thru option for the benefit of its pharmacy.
The land-contract arrangement hit a snag when a survey discovered the car wash is on too small of a lot for its current zoning. Shaffer said CBH has plans to keep the car wash open but to encroach the car wash property by about 20 feet to add a drive-thru lane.
