Grant to fair board will pay for roof replacement

Members of the St. Joseph County Grange Fair Board acknowledged the source of a $10,000 grant Thursday.

Mike Boring, sales manager of the Anderson Foundation, met up with fair board members at the Centreville property for a photo opportunity. Boring, on behalf of the Anderson Family Foundation, was responsible for providing the money to the board.

Matched by a $10,000 commitment from fair officials, the grant will help pay for a new roof on the milk parlor and its adjacent dairy barns, barns 20 and 21. The metal roof will replace a decades-old, rusted roof currently atop the three, adjoined buildings.

Leon Shetler of Shetler Roofing will begin work on the replacement as soon as his schedule allows. Fair officials said the work will likely be done at some point in January, if not sooner.
