Man charged in Sturgis shooting

A 35-year-old Sturgis man has been charged with first-degree homicide stemming from a fatal shooting last week in Sturgis.

An arraignment took place Friday in St. Joseph County Court for Erik Davis, a suspect in the shooting. His bond was set at $750,000.

Davis was arrested after a 33-year-old man died from multiple gunshot wounds following the shooting, which occurred in the 500 block of North Prospect Street.

The victim was taken to Sturgis Hospital, where he later died. He has not been publicly identified by authorities.
