A 34-year-old woman was shot during a domestic situation over the weekend in Cass County’s Mason Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly after 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the 19000 block of Chain Lake Street.
Deputies arrived to the scene and sought the aid of ambulance personnel. The victim subsequently was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies, though they were later notified the suspect had been located after crashing his vehicle in Goshen.
He was detained by the Goshen Police Department for the investigation as well as criminal charges in Goshen. The suspect is being held at the Elkhart County Jail pending extradition back to Michigan.
The victim, meanwhile, remains in stable condition, authorities said.
