Deb Spealman, 69

Deborah Jean Spealman, age 69, of Constantine, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born in Sturgis on Sep. 7, 1951 and was the daughter of William and Mary (McClain) Spealman. Deb was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County and the Mendon United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mariam Circle. She was a Brownie Scout and 4-H member before graduating from Mendon High School in 1969 and attending Glen Oaks Community College. She was employed as a nursing assistant at Fairview Living Center, Riverview Manor, and area adult foster care homes. She enjoyed participating in the annual Mendon Kiwanis Showboat, cheering for the Detroit Tigers, watching horse races, and was an avid reader.

Deb is survived by her mother, Mary Spealman of Mendon; two brothers, Tom (Connie) Spealman of Mendon and Jerry Spealman of Portage; nephew, Travis (Nicole Sylvest) Spealman of Thibodaux, LA; niece, Tiffani (Max Williams) Spealman of Columbus, OH; and very close friend, Lucille Bloom. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Spealman; and long-time companion, Paul Colon.

There will be a public viewing from 3 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Graveside services will be at 2 pm Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 in Mendon Cemetery with Rev. Carl Litchfield, Pastor of the Mendon United Methodist Church officiating. A recording of the ceremony will be posted to the funeral home website later in the day.
