Man arrested in shooting incident

A Branch County man was arrested last week after authorities said he fired a gun in the direction of a relative.

Michigan State Police troopers were called shortly after midnight Thursday to a residence in the 900 block of West Colon Road in Matteson Township.

Authorities said a family member arrived unannounced to the house and was upset that the victim’s boyfriend was present. The victim told the suspect to leave.

According to investigators, the suspect and victim relocated to outside. The suspect then allegedly threatened to kill the victim and fired an unknown gun in the victim’s general direction as well as the house, in which two children were present.

No one was injured.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested later in LaGrange County.
