SJC commissioners hold executive meeting

A few loose ends were addressed during Wednesday’s St. Joseph County Executive Committee meeting.

Commissioners recommended acceptance of a Community Corrections Grant Agreement for 2021. It is almost $114,000 and awarded through the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Also, commissioners approved setting a public hearing for the county’s 2021 proposed budget. The hearing will be conducted during their meeting Tuesday.

Finally, commissioners agreed to add to their Tuesday agenda a resolution recognizing county treasurer Judie Ratering, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Commissioner Ken Malone said it’s unfortunate a presentation could not be done in person. He recognized, however, that circumstances are beyond the board’s control.

Ratering has served as finance director since 2012 and chose not to seek re-election to a third, four-year term.
