State law prohibits the plowing or shoveling of snow, ice or slush onto or across roadways or highways, as it can present a serious traffic hazard. Violation of the law is a misdemeanor, with both the property owner and person hired to remove the snow responsible for any illegal snow removal activities.
In addition, snow must not be piled in such a way as to obstruct motorists’ vision. It is advisable to pile snow on the right side of your driveway, as you face
the road. This minimizes the snow being pushed back into your driveway by our plows.
Residents should also make certain that their trash containers are not placed too close to the edge of road before snow removal has taken place.
