Edwin W. Taylor, age 71, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday evening, December 19, 2020 at his home.
He was born September 23, 1949 in Sturgis, son of the late Edwin J. and Elsie (Lewis) Taylor.
Ed resided in Sturgis since 1980 coming from Colon, where his early life was spent and he was a graduate of Colon High School with the class of 1968.
On August 24, 1985 he married Linda Harmon in Sturgis.
Ed retired from Morgan Olson in Sturgis following 44 years of dedicated employment.
He was a member of Snyder-Lewis-Welty Post #454 American Legion in Colon and Eagles Lodge #1314 in Sturgis.
Ed had a love and appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing softball, and golf, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes and boating. He also was happy when he was restoring antique tractors and just tinkering on a project or two.
He is survived by his wife: Linda; two daughters: Cassandra (Barry) Davis of Florida and Tracy (Russell) Meyer of Sherwood; one son: Marc (Krysten) Shoulders of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister: Bonnie (Mark) Ross of Scott, Indiana; two brothers: Ron Taylor of Colon and Dan (Leilani) Taylor of Sherwood and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson: Zachary.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Edwin W. Taylor will be held at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to the charity of one’s own choice.
