James A. Cripe, age 89, of Marcellus, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born in South Bend on August 27, 1931 the son of Cecil and Verna (Melser) Cripe.
On October 21, 1955, in Middlebury, he married Betty M. Hoover who survives.
Jim served in the Marine Corps, and was a member of the American Legion Post 39. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, fishing on Cedar Lake, making dandelion wine and hanging out at the Marcellus VFW and local taverns. He was a proud Teamster and truck driver for McClean Trucking, Elkhart.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring at Marcellus Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Marcellus fire and Ambulance. Online condolences may be left at www.materralstonfuneralhome.com.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years; Betty M. Cripe, one daughter; Sandra (Adam) Blahuta, one son; James (Zo Snyder) Cripe, Jr. sisters; Mariellen (Ken) Leslie and Judy (Steven) Lee, Brother; John (Tami Jo) Robinson, Sister-in-law; Jean Robinson granddaughter; Misty (Joe) Lewandowski, Grandson; Ryan Reeves, great-grandson; Logan Lewandowski, great granddaughters; Monica (Collin) McDaniel, Ashley Lewandowski, and many Nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by: his parents, second father; Julius Robinson and second mother Jerri Cripe, sister Donna Dunnick, and brother and best friend Paul Robinson.
