Man arrested after police pursuit

St. Joseph County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 53-year-old Howe, Ind., man last week following a brief car pursuit in Constantine Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a speeding violation Dec. 21 near the intersection of Dickinson and Burke roads.

The driver failed to stop and after a short distance, he was apprehended near the intersection of Burke and Miller roads.

After the pursuit, a shotgun was recovered in the area. The man admitted he owned the shotgun and was going to use it to intimidate the family of his partner.

He was charged with suspicion of fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a firearm while intoxicated, second-offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
