Butch DeMott, 78

Duane Faye “Butch” DeMott, age 78, of Three Rivers, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born August 21, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the son of Silas D. and Ann Isabell (Mizerak) DeMott.

Butch graduated from Battle Creek Lakeview High School in 1961.

He proudly worked as a fireman for the Kalamazoo Fire Department Station Number Seven from 1968 to 1970.

Butch especially loved The Detroit Sports teams, especially the Tigers and unfortunately The Lions. He was an avid fan of the University of Michigan and passed the love of those teams down to his youngest son and his step-children.

Butch was armed with a sharp and sarcastic sense of humor and spent many hours reading about European History and The Wild West. Butch also had a wonderful singing voice and loved to sing the songs of Marty Robbins and The Eagles.

Butch is survived by his sons Shane, Chad, Sean and Scott, Step children David Leroy and Beth Shanahan as well as their spouses and children. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his sister Lil, and the love of his life, former wife, Sharon DeMott.

Preceding him in death are his father Silas, his mother Ann, his brothers Douglas and Tony and a sister, Veronica as well as his stepson, Timothy Leroy.

Cremation has taken place and no memorial service is planned.
