Centreville continues in football playoffs

Two local high school football teams fell short over the weekend in their quest to make it to the state championship game.

Playing at Tecumseh High School, Constantine lost a tough contest against Clinton. The Falcons came up short in their Division 6 game, 40-to-6.

Meanwhile, in a Division 7 matchup in Fenton, Schoolcraft suffered a 36-to-21 defeat to New Lothrop.

The only local team to play this coming weekend for a state title is Centreville High School, which advanced due to a forfeit by COVID-stricken Clarkston Everest Collegiate High School.

The Bulldogs face Ubly at 10 a.m. Friday at Ford Field in Detroit, where the Division 8 state title will be decided.

Centreville superintendent Stephanie Lemmer announced classes Friday will be canceled.
