Constantine agrees to make changes to marijuana ordinance

Members of the Constantine Village Council agreed to amend a medical-marijuana ordinance on the advice of attorney Catherine Kaufman.

A list of changes to consider include expanding the definition of an enclosed locked facility to include outside grows; eliminating the requirement for a special-land-use permit for a primary caregiver in an industrial zone; eliminating details that include 1,000- square-foot separation from drug-free school zones, churches and child-care facilities; eliminating any buffer between the facility and residential zone or residence; and eliminating details prohibiting co-locating in the same industrial building as another business, provided businesses are separated and the building conforms to all codes.

The council set a public hearing for Monday next week for input on amending the ordinance.
