St. Joseph County commissioners are poised to modify one of their meeting schedules beginning in February.
The matter was raised at their executive committee meeting Wednesday.
Commissioner Jared Hoffmaster, who joined the five-member board earlier this month, advised commissioners he has a work-related conflict with the second of the commission’s two monthly executive committee meetings.
Executive committee meetings are at 8 a.m. the Wednesday before a board meeting. The sessions are a casual forum for commissioners to discuss in detail impending business, and determine what items appear on the agenda for the subsequent board meeting.
By consensus, commissioners agreed 8 o’clock Tuesday mornings would be the best alternative. County administrator Teresa Doehring clarified that the new day would be for both meetings per month and further verified the new executive committee meetings dates would take place one week before the twice-a-month county commission meetings, which are at 5 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
Commissioners are expected to make the change official when they meet Tuesday.
