St. Joseph County commissioners on Tuesday renewed their agreement with county grant writer James Hissong.
A contracted employee, Hissong will be paid $35,100 by the county this year after netting a $100 raise.
The agreement was extended through 2021.
County administrator Teresa Doehring and commissioners praised Hissong for the quality of work he has performed the past five years.
He was able to secure more than $2.2 million for the county in 2020. Hissong was quick to note a significant amount of that money was related to COVID-19.
Board chairman Dennis Allen also acknowledged Hissong’s efforts, saying he appreciates all the work Hissong does to bring so much money back to St. Joseph County.
