The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has announced the state will be moving to Phase 1B starting today.
As a result, people 65 years of age and older, as well as frontline essential workers, are scheduled for the next round of vaccination. The latter group includes police officers, first responders, state and federal frontline workers, jail/prison staff, and teachers and childcare providers.
Currently, the Branch-Hillsdale-St Joseph Community Health Agency has a limited supply of Moderna vaccine and is already committed to completing the Phase 1A appointments.
The next available shipment is estimated to arrive in two weeks. Vaccine allocation is controlled by manufacturer supply and determinations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Coldwater-based health department will move to Phase 1B when more vaccine is received.
