Man injured in car crash

State police troopers said speed is believed to be a factor in a single-vehicle crash last week in Mottville Township.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 12, east of Blue School Road.

The driver, a 22-year-old Sturgis man, told authorities he was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee on U.S. 12 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Jeep left the roadway and crashed, authorities said.

Investigators said the force of the crash separated the vehicle’s engine block from the rest of the Jeep, which came to rest upside down.

The driver, whose name was not stated in a department media release, was hospitalized and reportedly in stable condition.
