Several issues discussed by Centreville school board

Members of the Centreville Board of Education took care of several loose ends during their meeting Monday.

Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer said she would like to schedule a work session to take place Feb. 8. She said she has rolled out strategic planning with instructional leadership for how to proceed with developing the district’s strategic plan.

Also, Lemmer reported that the district’s sixth-grade students are prepared to attend class daily, abandoning an every-other-day hybrid model.

Sixth-grade students in Centreville attend the district’s elementary school.

Board members also approved the third of a three-phase building-and-site plan. The plans include junior high exterior work, the elementary school’s playground, and elementary school carpet and lighting. Other matters related to the phase will be reviewed later.

Finally, board members approved a “Let Them Play” resolution in support of letting districts decide whether winter sports should proceed. A few minor amendments were made to the resolution as originally presented and the motion to support passed unanimously.
