Bill Ellis, 77

William Leighton Ellis, age 77, of Sturgis, passed away late Saturday evening February 20, 2021 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born July 13, 1943 in Lees Creek, Ohio son of the late Allen and Stella (Dunn) Ellis.
Bill retired from Airborn Express in Wilmington, Ohio following several years of dedicated employment.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the rank of SP-4.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, feeding the birds and the squirrels. He never met a stranger and those that knew him will forever miss his fun loving spirit.
He is survived by Shirley’s children: Kathy (John) McKenzie of Burr Oak, Claude (Teresa) Fish, David (Becky) Fish and Jeff Fish all of Sturgis and many nieces and nephews including Leighton (Andi) Ellis of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his loving companion of 18 years: Shirley A. Fish; his parents and four sisters and three brothers.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Ellis’s memory consider Thurston Woods Endowment Fund, 307 N. Franks Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091.
