DNR looking person responsible for shooting and leaving deer

Local Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are appealing to the public for help finding the person who shot and left a button-buck deer in a field near Dauber and Round Lake roads in Noble Township.

The location is just east of the St. Joseph County line.

A land owner found the buck Monday afternoon and called DNR. The officer suspects the deer was killed late Sunday or early Monday. He checked to determine no reports of car-deer collisions were reported in the area.

After the investigation, DNR said conservation officers have reason to believe this event is related to two bucks shot with a rifle in July 2019. Both were left to rot in an alfalfa field near Himebaugh Road, between St. Joseph and Mallow roads.
