Hearing set for man charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice

A 31-year-old Centreville man was charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Joseph Johnson, who is the second of two people who tried to help Travis McCann get charges dropped against him, was arrested last weekend, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.

A probable cause hearing is set for next Thursday and a preliminary examination is March 3.

The arrest stems from a Nov. 11 incident in Colon Township, where McCann drove away from a residence but allegedly fired shots toward the home. Children were inside the residence at the time.

Johnson became involved in the situation when he went to the residence to persuade McCann’s wife to not press charges against McCann.

A third person, Alyssa Oswalt, 23, is also charged for her involvement in the situation, authorities said.
