Jean H. Hart, age 82, of White Pigeon, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born May 12, 1938, in LaGrange, a son of Norris and Geneva (Meyers) Hart.
Jean served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959 and received his GED during his active service. He also served in the Reserve 1959-1962.
He was employed at Weyerhauser in Middlbury, Coachman Industries and Simpson-Fox River Paper in Vicksburg, from where he retired in 1999.
Jean was an avid NASCAR fan, a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. He bowled in several bowling leagues.
He was first married to Phyllis Merrifield. They later divorced.
On Oct. 11, 1974, he married Deb Gloy. She survives, along with his children Norris (Janice) Hart, Connie (George) Cooke, Tammy Hart, Jean (Pam) Hart, Bill Hart and Angie (Jeff Overton) Brown; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Hart, Jack (Etheldra) Hart and Jerry (Sally) Hart; two sisters, Janice (Dick) Mattingly and Alice Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Janet Harness.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. COVID-19 restrictions and masks are required at the funeral home.
Private burial of cremains will take place at a later date in White Pigeon Cemetery.
