Marjorie Grace Ream, age 90, of Three Rivers, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at Bowman Place Assisted Living Community.
She was born August 21, 1930 in Prescott, Arizona, the daughter of Milton and Coral (Freese) Bergfeld-Schug. She always said, “I was born in a tent, and I’m going home to a mansion.”
Marjorie, better known as Marge, Margie, Mom, Ma, grandma, and Gracie, was married to her husband 62 years, Homer Ream, they raised two children. She was so proud to be a mother again as an -in-law to two wonderful people, Penny Quake Ream, as she always said, was her other daughter, and her other son, Corey Thomason.
She has one grandson Trevor Ream, and a great-granddaughter Joslyne Ream.
She enjoyed making peanut brittle, and vegetable soup, both, which she was famous for, as well as pies, jellies and cookies for the church bazaar, she was a Youth Group leader for 40+ years in the First Church of God. Her crafting, too many things to list. She was creative, with more ideas than time. She served as President of the Three Rivers Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered 20+ years as well. She was involved with the Women of the Church of God, all her adult life, holding every office both in the local group and at state level for the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana. She also volunteered with the Salvation Army as a bell ringer for years. She was instrumental in organizing Crop Walks in St. Joseph County. She was a 1948 graduate of Centreville High School. They loved being called Winter Texans, spending many winters there. Her love of shelling on the Texas Gulf Coast was a passion of hers, getting up when the tide was out, for the best shelling, regardless of the early hour. She loved to travel, and they made it to all 48 lower states and a great many of the Canadian provinces. She was a loving, caring person, always with an offer of a helping hand.
Remaining to cherish Marjorie’s memory are her son, Randy (Penny) Ream of Three Rivers; daughter, Cynthia (Corey) Thomason of Three Rivers; grandchildren, Trevor Ream; great-grandchildren, Joslyne Ream. Nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brother in laws, and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Homer I. Ream, her parents, Milton Bergfeld and Coral Adell Freese-Bergfeld-Schug, her Sister, Mary Elenore Replogle, 3 half-brothers, Leo, Harry, and Arthur Bergfeld.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers with Rev. Madonna Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
