Richard Dale Crittenden, age 82, of rural Vicksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at his home. He was born in East Lansing on June 13, 1938 the son of Kenard and Wava (King) Crittenden. He graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and later earned his Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. He served in the US Army in 1961 and 1962. Upon his return, Dick worked in the Detroit offices of Librand, Ross Brothers, and Montgomery CPA. He later established his own accounting firm known as Crittenden and Associates. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and very involved in Youth Ministry. He has resided at the Nazarene Camp on Indian Lake for the past 20 years where he employed local youth for campground projects. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially yard-work, and was a big M.S.U. fan.
Richard was married to Ruth Smith on Sep. 9, 1961 in Lansing. She survives along with a son, Kevin (Sue) Crittenden of Shelbyville, KY; two granddaughters, Kelsey (Ken) Sawicki of Seattle, WA and Maranda Crittenden Louisville, KY; He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. Military interment of his cremains will take place later this spring in Fr. Custer National Cemetery with Pastor Dave Downs of the Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene officiating. It is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Veterans Administration, V.A.
