Southwest Michigan First CEO resigns

Southwest Michigan First announced Monday its newly appointed CEO, Lee Chatfield, submitted his resignation to the agency’s board of directors.

According to a Southwest Michigan First media release, its officials acknowledged the announcement of Chatfield has caused a great deal of disappointment by team members, community partners, investors, donors and board members of Southwest Michigan First.

Many have questioned the agency’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as human capital and CEO search processes.

Agency officials said it is abundantly clear that the search process fell well below the standard expected by their board, community partners, investors, donors and the Southwest Michigan First team.
