White Pigeon school bus damaged in crash

Nobody was injured Monday when a White Pigeon Community Schools bus was struck by a semi tractor-trailer.

The incident occurred at 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 131 and U.S. 12, and involved a bus, a semi and two passenger vehicles.

White Pigeon Fire Chief Tyler Royce said the bus, which was unoccupied other than its driver, was eastbound on U.S. 12. The semi was southbound and its driver disregarded a red light, resulting in the collision.

Royce said based on his observation, it appears the bus is a total loss.

White Pigeon district officials said the driver followed all protocols and stressed the bus driver was not at fault.
