A St. Joseph County-based agency is one of nearly two dozen facilities in Michigan to receive COVID-19 doses to enhance the state’s vaccine-equity strategy.
Michigan Department of Public Health and Human Services, and the Protect Michigan Commission, have awarded 35,800 vaccine doses to 22 pilot projects, including Covered Bridge Healthcare in Centreville.
According to a department of public health media release, the goal of the program is to help remove barriers to vaccine access for Michiganders 60 years of age and older, and who live in communities with high social vulnerability.
Covered Bridge was chosen because the clinic is federally enrolled to administer COVID vaccinations, it can store and manage the vaccine, it can identify a method for people to get a second dose, and it has the ability to identify and resolve barriers between patients and receiving the vaccine.
