Damon Hughes, 55

Damon Lowell Hughes, age 55, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday morning March 27, 2021 at his home.
He was born August 11, 1965 in San Antonio, Texas son of Larry D. and Gertrude (Smith) Hughes.
Damon resided in Sturgis for the past 13 years coming from Colorado and his early life was spent in Texas.
On February 14, 1997 he married Patricia Jean Haley in San Antonio, Texas. She preceded him in death July 30, 2019.
Damon was a gifted master mechanic who many would attest to that he could many times diagnosis an engine problem just by listening to it run. He could fix nearly anything and he enjoyed fishing, a good joke and truly loved his wife, daughters and son.
He is survived by one daughter: Andrea (Alex) Patten of Sturgis; one son: Damon Hughes of Sturgis; step-daughter: Juanita Morales of Sturgis; granddaughter: Alyssa Patten; Mother: Gertrude of San Antonio, Texas; one sister: Donna Casanova of Universal City, Texas; five brothers: Dennis (Kelli) Hughes of Lago Vista, Texas, Leonard Hughes of Houston, Texas, David (Brenda) Hughes of South Roxana, Illinois, Daniel Hughes and Curtis Edward Hughes both of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister: Darla Hughes.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date.
