Health department receives additional COVID-19 vaccine

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has announced more individuals are invited to schedule their COVID-19 vaccination.

The expanded group now includes all essential workers, people age 50 years and older, and people age 16 and older with a chronic healthcare condition.

The agency has received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, and with additional doses of Moderna and Pfizer being received, is scheduling more than 4,700 vaccine appointments in the next week. This is the greatest one-week volume of vaccines the agency has received.

Health officer Rebecca Burns said one vaccine is not better than another and she encouraged anyone who has not yet been immunized to get one as soon as possible. Any COVID vaccine received is better than none, she added.
