Old Car Dust-Off postponed

Organizers of a longtime, spring tradition have decided to postpone their 2021 event.

Officials with the Three Rivers Classic and Antique Restorers Club recently agreed to take a pass on the Old Car Dust-Off in Mendon.

The event would have been the 57th Dust-Off on May 2 at Mendon High School. Club president Heidi Alexander said the show will hopefully make its return in 2022.

She said club officials looked at the current state of Michigan gatherings and facemask order, and considering the limitations for outdoor gatherings right now, Alexander said it was clear participants and spectators would have to be turned away.

The 2019 show – held under a sunny sky and in 70-degree weather – drew a near-record number of about 800 cars and a few thousand more spectators.

Holding the Dust-Off at a time of year other than early May, she said, would not honor the show’s longstanding tradition and theme.
