Shirley Faunce, 98

Shirley Lucille Faunce, age 98, of Coldwater, went to be with her lord and savior on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Skaggs Assisted Living in Burr Oak.
A memorial service for Shirley will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Bronson First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sam Gordy officiating. A burial of ashes will take place in Matteson Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. Masks will be required for both visitation and services while practicing social-distancing.
Shirley was born April 15, 1922, to Glenn and Ruby (Vosburgh) Lytle in Coldwater. She was a 1939 graduate of Bronson High School and on October 17, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, L. Max Foglesong, in Traverse City. He preceded her in death Jan.12, 1981.
On April 17, 1982, Shirley married A.L. “Bill” Faunce in Bronson. He preceded her in death March 29, 2003.
She had worked as an executive secretary for L.A. Darling Company and then Midwest Foundry for 46 years, until her retirement in 1986.
Shirley had been a member of Bronson First United Methodist Church and also had attended Velda Rose Methodist Church during her beloved stays in Arizona. She was the past Matron and life member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 354 as well as the past music director of Job’s Daughters. Shirley also had been affiliated with Friends of the Library, the historical society, American Legion Auxillary, Elks and Coldwater Country Club, all in Coldwater.
Her dedication to service knew no limits, as she also offered her time volunteering at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Ariz., during her visits there. She was a strong and independent woman who loved to read, golf, play party bridge, play the organ and travel both the United States and abroad. Shirley’s love and generosity was known to many, but most of all to her family, whom she loved and adored.
She is survived by her daughter Leslie (Bruce) Gosling of White Pigeon; her three grandchildren, Tamara Carver of Sturgis, Joshua Hahn of White Pigeon and Megan (Jack Johnston) Gosling of Plymouth; a great-granddaughter, Savanah Hahn of Sturgis; a niece, Patricia Allabach of Sturgis; a nephew, Pete (Sue) Wieglos of Bronson; a great-nephew, Ruston (Marni) Walker; a great-great niece, Mercedes (Al) Moore and her great great-great niece Alice Moore all of Mount Pleasant.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Max; her second husband, Bill; a sister, Harriet Wielgos; and a brother, Glenn Lytle Jr.
Memorial donations are suggested to Kindred Hospice of Portage or Bronson First United Methodist Church.
