Sturges-Young begins fundraising campaign

Fundraising efforts to upgrade Sturges-Young Center for the Arts are underway, as part of a multiple-year timeline of goals and projects.

Sheila Bolda, executive director at Sturges-Young, recently presented an update to Sturgis City Commission members regarding the fundraising campaign.

Bolda said long-overdue restroom upgrades, complete with touch-free fixtures, are the highest priority.

The facility is hoping to raise between $300,000 and $ 400,000 this year to put toward projects.

Other areas to be addressed include projection and audio/ visual upgrades, auditorium carpet and paint, seating and accessibility access, concessions, curtain replacement, roofing and structural upgrades, new marquee and acoustic upgrades, and orchestra pit and stage flooring restoration.

Bolda estimates it will cost $1.5 million to $2 million to reach all the goals.
