Traffic stop leads to arrest of Three Rivers man

A 56-year-old Three Rivers man was arrested early Monday on a felony warrant following a traffic stop in Branch County.

State police troopers attempted to stop a vehicle shortly before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Morse and State streets for an equipment violation.

Troopers enacted a felony stop and contacted the occupants: the driver and a 47-year-old female from Coldwater. The driver had a valid felony warrant for drug-related offenses.

The vehicle was not registered nor insured to either person. A search of the driver, the passenger and vehicle found methamphetamines, a 9-mm. pistol, ammunition for the pistol, metallic knuckles, a stun gun and Xanax pills with no known prescription.

The pistol was not registered to either occupant and neither had a valid permit or license for the weapon or the stun gun. The driver is also an alleged convicted felon.

He was taken to Branch County Jail. The female was released from the scene.
