Alvin E. Inman, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 21, 2021 at Skaggs Assisted Living in Burr Oak.
He was born March 16, 1936 in Noblesville, Indiana son of the late Chester and Minnie (Salsbery) Inman.
Alvin resided in Sturgis since 1957. His early life was spent in Noblesville, Indiana and Brighton, Indiana where he was a graduate of Brighton High School with the class of 1955.
On April 27, 1957 he married Nancy L. Wegner at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis by the Rev. Herbert M. Heidenreich. Nancy preceded him in death July 3, 2017.
Alvin retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following 37 years of dedicated employment. He also farmed and raised hogs and was involved in the building of the Indiana Toll Road.
He was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
Alvin enjoyed attending auctions, farming, spending mornings having coffee with the McDonalds crew, hunting and fishing, purchasing houses and remodeling them for rentals and he loved attending the many sporting events and activities of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters: Kalyn (Timothy) Pulling and Kristi (Michael) Bronstetter both of Sturgis; one son: Kurt (Marcia) Inman of Sturgis; six grandchildren: Eric (Jessica) Pulling of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Jaime (Brendan) Allen of Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, Ella (Michael McTighe) Inman of Yonkers, New York, Gretchen Inman of Atlanta, Georgia, Hannah Bronstetter , a student at Grand Valley State University in Allendale and Emma Bronstetter of Sturgis; five great granddaughters: Claire Pulling, Madison Pulling, Makenzie Pulling, Nancy Allen and Maggie Allen and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister: Viola Rowe, infant brother: Robert and nieces: Yolanda Friend and Franka Friend.
Due to the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic private family services celebrating the life of Alvin E. Inman will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on the Trinity Lutheran Church Facebook page. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mr. Inman’s memory be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 S. Lakeview Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091.
