State Rep. Steve Carra has announced he plans to seek the U.S. Congressional 6th District seat in the 2022 mid-term election.
The seat is currently held by Fred Upton.
Carra was elected to the 59th House District in November after emerging from a field of five candidates in the August primary. He succeeded term-limited Aaron Miller.
Carra staged a Congressional campaign kickoff Tuesday evening at L.A.’s Coffee Café in Three Rivers.
With news of Carra’s decision to seek the Congressional seat in the November 2022 election, the opportunity for a new state representative has now opened, as Carra will not be able to seek re-election to a second, two-year term as state representative.
