Centreville schools approved bus purchase

Centreville Public Schools plans to buy two new buses as a component of the district’s 2013 voter-approved millage request.

Board members on Monday agreed to buy a pair of 2019 Cummins diesel-engine buses from Midwest Transit. Board president Jeff Troyer said the vehicles were subject to a bid process and total cost was $131,286 for the pair.

The district will retire and sell buses 2, 6 and 9.

Superintendent Stephanie Lemmer said the district is looking into extended warranties. She said she is waiting to hear a recommendation on the matter from appropriate school officials.

Lemmer said the three, soon-to-be-out-of-service buses will be auctioned.

The district is in the midst of attempting to secure a value for each of the three buses.
