The St. Joseph County Conservation District is looking for volunteers interested in helping with a macroinvertebrate collection next month.
Agency director Carolyn Grace said the event was originally scheduled for this weekend but has been bumped to an unknown date in May due to a delay at the state level.
Grace said she does know it will likely begin with a brief training session at the agency’s Centreville headquarters, and it will probably take place on a weekend morning.
The collections will take place at three locations within the county: the Prairie, Portage and Rocky rivers.
She said prospective participants don’t need expertise in aquatic life to be an effective volunteer.
Grace said she will notify local media when a time and date have been established.
