Constantine begins July 4th celebration planning

Constantine village officials are in the preliminary stages of planning the municipality’s Fourth of July celebration.

Addressing the matter during last week’s village council meeting, village manager Mark Honeysett said considering the holiday this year falls on a Sunday, he advised the start of the Independence Day parade move from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate worship services earlier in the day.

Honeysett said as far as he is aware, only a few other communities in the vicinity are planning a fireworks display Fourth of July night. In light of COVID-related concerns, he noted the village’s insurance carrier indicated it would be permissible for the village to proceed with a parade and fireworks event.
