Grace I. Patrick, age 95, of Sturgis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Easter morning, Sunday, April 4, 2021, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born March 28, 1926, at her parents’ farm on Decker Road in Colon, a daughter of the late Zoe and Sadie (Pulver) Flanders.
As a youngster, she lived in South Colon, where she attended Eberhard Elementary School and later Colon High School.
On Feb. 5, 1943, she married Everett L. Patrick at Colon Baptist Church. He preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1998.
She and Mr. Patrick purchased a farm near Burr Oak and moved to Sturgis in 1952.
She was a homemaker throughout her life and also was employed at different times by Freeman Manufacturing Company, Sturgis Journal and Sturgis Public Schools.
Mrs. Patrick was a lifetime member of South Colon Ladies Aid Society. She also was a member of Sturgis Wesleyan Church, now known as Radiant Life. She enjoyed traveling, which took her to places as distant as southern Mexico and Alaska.
She is survived by two sons, Larry L. Patrick of Pittsburgh and Mark (Brenda) Patrick of Sturgis; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Shae) Patrick of Elwood City, Pa., Michelle (Ricardo Canedo) Patrick of Wolcottville, Ind., and Charlie (Stefanie) Patrick of Sturgis; six great-grandchildren, Taner Patrick and Chloe Patrick, both of Sturgis, Pilar Canedo, Lourdes Canedo and Dulce Canedo and Conor Patrick of Elwood City, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Opal Flanders, Velda (Flanders) Schultz and Mary (Flanders) Myers; and two brothers, Lloyd Flanders and Wilbur Flanders.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 12, at Sturgis Evangelical Church, 28201 E. Fawn River Road, Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Grace I. Patrick will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pastor Rodger Moyer will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
