Karen Lynn Lampe, age 58, of Lakewood, California and a former longtime Sturgis resident passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Los Alamitos Medical Center in Los Alamitos California of natural causes.
She was born July 3, 1962 in Sturgis, daughter of Theodore Michael “Teddy” and Norma (Cousins) Lampe.
Karen resided in the Long Beach area of California for over 40 years going there from Sturgis where she was a member of the Sturgis High School Class of 1980.
She was a talented landscape artist and owned and operated Mystic Gardens Landscaping Company.
Karen had an adventurous and caring spirit. She enjoyed traveling and had a true love and appreciation for animals.
She is survived by her mother: Norma Roberts of Grand Blanc; sister: Melissa (John Blue) Reed of Sturgis; brother: Gene (Sherrie) Lampe of Swartz Creek; nieces and nephews: Lucas, Meika, Shane, Tara, Garrett and Caley; great nephew: Damion; special friend and guiding presence in her life: Carol Jackson of Lakewood, California and her current K-9 companions that she loved as if they were her children: Lucky and Doug and many longtime special friends in California.
She was preceded in death by her father: Teddy Lampe; step-father Bob Roberts and nephew: Stephen McBride.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A private family celebration and honoring of the life of Karen Lynn Lampe will be held at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is assisting the family with local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers and honoring what would be Karen’s wishes, memorial donations would be appreciated to Hope for the Animals of SJC, 25420 Mintdale Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
