Kendal Davenport, age 74, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Phoenix, AZ following heart surgery.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial with military honors will be held at National Cemetery in Vining, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday, April 23, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) or Run for the Wall (www.rftw.us)

Ken was born June 5, 1947 in Constantine, the son of Fredrick and Edna (Dunwiddie) Davenport. He received his bachelor’s degree in BioMedical Engineering from Marquette University. He served in the US Army from October 1966 to December 1969. Ken was in the 518th Signal Corps, APO unit 96240 and served in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
Ken married Linda Van Pelt on May 27, 1967.
Ken was the Director of Facilities Services at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for many years. He retired in 2007.
He served on the boards of the Iowa Boy Scouts of America, the Iowa City Jaycees, and was president of the Iowa Medical Engineering Board. Ken loved music. He traveled to Peru and climbed Machu Picchu and had participated in the Run for the Wall veterans motorcycle group for many years.
Most important to Ken was the love of family and friends.
Ken is survived by his wife, Linda; their children, Christene Vokoun (Rick) of Chelsea, IA and Brad Davenport of North Liberty; grandchildren, Trey, Lane, Cruz, and Chloe; siblings, Pennie Edinger, Janell Hunter, and Martin Davenport.
