Land conservancy resumes volunteer work

Officials from Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy announced last week they are able to resume Wednesday Warrior Workdays.

Volunteers have been advised to incorporate precautions such as practicing social distancing, wearing masks, driving separately to workday locations and using contact tracing.

According to agency official Miko Dargitz, the new safety protocol system has been running smoothly.

In addition to Wednesday Warriors, a separate group of volunteers known as the Privateers has been working once a week at SWMLC preserves to battle invasive species and keep preserves as ecologically healthy as possible.

Anyone interested in volunteering with the Warriors, Privateers or help the Galesburg-based agency in any capacity is encouraged to call 324-1600.
