Man arrested in Three Rivers after pursuit

A Kalamazoo man was arrested last week after he led authorities on a pursuit that ended in the city of Three Rivers.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies became involved in the pursuit shortly after 6 a.m. Friday. The vehicle, a Ford passenger car, was observed speeding as it was traveling north on Lutz Road, near Fairchild Road.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle as it continued north on Lutz Road and eventually into the Three Rivers city limits.

Lillywhite said the vehicle was pursued to the area of Sixth Avenue, near Riverview Drive, where it crashed into a tree stump in the yard of a residence.

The suspect fled on foot and was tracked with the assistance of Three Rivers Police K-9 Django. The 28-year-old suspect was tracked to the area of Three Rivers Middle School, where he was taken into custody by a Michigan State Police trooper.

The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges. Specific charges were not stated in a department media release.
